Master Load Balancing through FatPipe’s Proven Techniques

FatPipe has been constantly raising the bar with its load balancing techniques for more than two decades; this unique combination of simplicity and intelligence across diverse network environments is a great solution for modern organizations.

FatPipe’s load balancing employs distinct techniques that can be applied across a wide range of scenarios:

  • MPSec™-Based intelligent Load Balancing for secure multipath performance utilising MPSec stability factor which switches traffic based on algorithm of various Network parameters. This load balancing technology can perform per packet load balancing without traffic duplication which is unique in the whole industry.
  • Round Robin for straightforward distribution, especially suitable for similar-speed internet connections
  • Response Time for choosing the fastest path. It is specifically suited for unequal speed connections. The link with the lowest latency will be used more often. Where two or more Internet links are used, Response Time is the wanted and preferred algorithm as it calculates real-time traffic and latencies.
  • Fastest Route for application-sensitive routing.  Each session will go over the fastest link for that particular destination.
  • Spillover Priority for handling surges efficiently. It is a solution for users that are charged for line usage that is proportionate to the traffic they generate during their billing cycle.
  • Weighted Distribution to allocate based on link capacity.  By implementing spill over priority, the network can effectively handle heavy loads on the primary link, ensuring that lower priority links are only engaged when absolutely necessary. This approach optimizes resource usage and reduces costs, complementing the traffic distribution of the weighted algorithm.
  • WAN Link Usage including Primary/Backup for prioritization and redundancy. When there are two or more links marked as ‘Backup’, sessions will be load balanced among them when all ‘Primary’ links are down.
  • Application load balancing – FatPipe creates outbound policies and can send traffic of application over available WAN links.
  • Threshold based – Network administrators can configure traffic failover to trigger based on latency, packet loss, jitter and/or bandwidth utilization.

FatPipe handles session-based load balancing in single-site setups and in multi-site configurations, it goes further by offering both session-based and packet-based load balancing, enabling enterprises to achieve maximum efficiency and reliability.

With FatPipe, sessions can be distributed across multiple paths using application data or details at Layer 3 and Layer 4. This flexibility is powered by MPSec™ ,that securely splits, encrypts, and reassembles data across WAN links. MPSec™ goes beyond the logical computations of an algorithm; it is a proven technique that bonds multiple connections into one logical, resilient, and secure pathway to provide consistent results, higher availability, better utilization of bandwidth, and uncompromised security.

FatPipe harnesses load balancing’s power by delivering seamless user experience besides managing operational costs with the guaranteed reliability.

How FatPipe Solves Network Pain Points for Decision Makers

Imagine this: As the factory floor is the hub for productivity, your production monitoring data cannot afford a halt. Or for that matter, a financial transaction cannot risk a pause. Customer trust cannot be considered trivial, compliance adherence measures cannot be ignored. The reliance on real-time applications poses a mammoth risk to organizations in the form of both technical acumen and business continuity.

Decision makers today face multiple pain points when it comes to managing wide-area networks. Here’s how FatPipe addresses them with practical, field-proven solutions.

The Pain Point: Network Downtime Risks

Why it matters: Even a few seconds of downtime can disrupt VoIP calls, freeze critical video sessions, or delay financial transactions. Legacy failover methods like BGP take too long and cause glaring service glitches.

FatPipe’s Solution

MPSec™ Technology: Seamlessly switches all active sessions – voice, video, or data – to another line in a split second, without renegotiating VPN tunnels to ensure improved SLAs and near close to 99.998% network availability.

Demonstrated in Mission-Critical Environments: Deployed in 911 centers worldwide, where downtime cannot be considered trivial.

LTE/4G Failover Without Drops: Even if your call fails over to LTE, the conversation doesn’t get affected.

The Pain Point: Bandwidth Cost & Overprovisioning

Why it matters: Several organizations overprovision costly bandwidth without being aware of the fact that there are solutions for huge reduction in bandwidth costs.

FatPipe’s Solution:

FatPipe patented load balancing algorithms ensure up to 50% bandwidth savings as compared to other Vendors.

The Pain Point: Resilience and speed in Every Branch

Why it matters: Remote and branch offices must continue with their routine operations even if central control is disrupted.

FatPipe’s Solution:

Intelligent Branch Technology: Keeps branches independently operational until central systems are restored. FatPipe does not use traditional routing protocols to make networks work faster.

For decision makers, the question is not only “what features does an SD-WAN vendor offer?”; it’s “how does this solution mitigate risk, cost, and complexity for my business?”

With over 20 years of experience delivering reliable, redundant, and secure WAN connectivity, FatPipe doesn’t just bring features. It solves the pressing challenges that steals the sleep of decision-makers at night: downtime, cost control, security, compliance, and resilience.

A Key Patented Solution for Inbound Load Balancing

Inbound load balancing is a critical capability that often goes unnoticed by enterprise network engineers, especially in a crowded market where most vendors focus primarily on outbound load balancing solutions. Inbound load balance provides optimum link utilization, link redundancy for incoming traffic, and fault tolerance, ensuring business continuity and disaster recovery. Additionally, this concept performs traffic triage to prioritize and distribute traffic effectively.

  • In an e-commerce platform where customers continue shopping, paying, and checking out, a major ISP outage is no exception. The ideal solution use case distributes inbound traffic across multiple ISP links instantly.
  • Imagine a courier and logistics company where customers can always track their shipments and book services online, even during network link failures. The ideal solution use case is multiple IP addresses across different WAN links, guaranteeing uninterrupted access.

How FatPipe Excels in Inbound WAN Traffic

Most load balancing solutions focus on distributing traffic between servers, not managing how that traffic enters your network. Legacy DNS-based methods rely on static TTL values and slow propagation, whereas BGP brings along with it its own complexity and sluggish convergence.

FatPipe’s approach is different: FatPipe becomes the authoritative DNS for your domain, combining DNS intelligence with real-time WAN edge decisions. This is nothing short of instant failover, session persistence, and true carrier independence. The outcome: public-facing services stay fast, resilient, and always on.

The Significant Role of SmartDNS in Inbound Load Balancing

FatPipe’s SmartDNS performs inbound load balancing with stability, simplicity, and reliability at a lower total cost of operation, saving up to 50% of bandwidth for Enterprises. Multi-link aggregation ensures scalability, so your business can seamlessly handle increasing traffic across multiple WAN connections. Even during outages, seamless session continuity is maintained. This directly leads to the disruption-free operation of mission-critical applications, such as VoIP and video conferencing.

  • FatPipe Smart DNS ensures Site Load Balancing through the distribution of incoming IP traffic between several autonomous sites.
  • FatPipe Smart DNS distributes incoming IP traffic between various links at various sites.
  • FatPipe Smart DNS can automatically sense – a) Failure of a data center and automatic failover to a back-up data center, b) Failure of a server at the datacenter and failover to a backup server and c) Failure of the application in a server and failover to an application at a backup server
  • SmartDNS provides redundancy by allowing the host on the LAN to be accessible through multiple connections.

Businesses demand the level of reliability provided by FatPipe inbound load balancing because uninterrupted connectivity, seamless user experience, and zero revenue loss aren’t an option in today’s environment. To experience this level of reliability, explore how SmartDNS integrates with your existing network strategy.

Make Your Network Faster with Protocol-Less WAN

The routing protocol has been the technology for running enterprise networks ever since the invention of dynamic routing protocols in the 1980s and 1990s. These protocols are now over 35 years old and have inherent limitations, the most prominent one being control overheads and slow convergence for today’s traffic, which is real-time primarily in terms of voice, video, and cloud applications. The dynamic protocols were more relevant when there was no cloud traffic and very little video and voice content, which is now prevalent with conferencing applications such as Webex, Teams, and Zoom.

Welcome to the world of FatPipe Networks, which manages the modern enterprise network without requiring any dynamic WAN routing protocol. The patented yet open FatPipe WAN Edge overcomes all the inherent limitations of these old routing protocols with MPSECTM, making the network much more reliable, simpler, and faster for mission-critical applications.
