FatPipe Constellation: Bringing It All Together for Modern Networks

FatPipe Constellation: Bringing It All Together for Modern Networks

Connecting FatPipe’s expertise in connectivity with visibility into the networks you depend on

Device discovery is a key part of network monitoring, supported by network topology visualization, device inventory, and poller management. Understanding these individual features is only the starting point. This second part of our device discovery series takes a closer look at the technical aspects, connecting FatPipe Constellation’s capabilities with their practical applications.

From Device Discovery to a More Useful Inventory

Once discovered devices are added to FatPipe Constellation’s monitored inventory, administrators have a centralized view of their network assets and associated information. Network topology adds another dimension by showing device relationships and connections, helping administrators understand what equipment exists and how it fits into the wider network.

Beyond Discovery: Monitoring What Matters

Every network has its own monitoring requirements, and identifying devices sets the stage. FatPipe Constellation allows administrators to tailor monitoring to their infrastructure by creating custom device types and OID templates that define which SNMP objects to monitor. MIB files can be imported into Poller Configuration, making their definitions available through the MIB Object Tree, where administrators can browse and locate the required objects. The poller then uses the OIDs defined in the templates to collect information from the associated devices.

This flexibility extends to interface monitoring, bandwidth monitoring, hardware monitoring, configuration management, and WMI management. Rather than relying exclusively on generic device information, administrators can configure monitoring around the equipment they operate and the measurements that matter most to their organization.

The Value of Knowing What to Monitor

The real value of device discovery emerges when administrators put the information it produces to work. A discovered switch, for example, becomes more useful when its inventory details, interface status, bandwidth utilization, and hardware health can be examined together. FatPipe Constellation connects these capabilities within a centralized monitoring environment, helping IT teams apply the appropriate level of monitoring to different network devices.

For customers evaluating the platform, this provides a more meaningful basis for technical discussions and product demonstrations. Beyond determining whether Constellation can discover their equipment, they can explore how it can help them monitor and manage that equipment as their network evolves.

Deep Domain Expertise for Modern Networks

Helping school districts, healthcare organizations, and enterprises maintain an accurate understanding of their networks is an ongoing focus for FatPipe. New devices are introduced, existing equipment is replaced, and monitoring requirements change.

Device discovery and inventory help administrators keep track of network assets, while topology visualization provides context about their connections. Custom device types and reusable OID templates make it easier to establish consistent monitoring for similar equipment without defining every measurement from scratch. FatPipe EnterpriseView brings monitoring information from distributed environments into a centralized view, allowing administrators to examine network health, device performance, and operating conditions across locations.

Ultimately, the goal is to simplify the work of managing complex networks. FatPipe Constellation’s capabilities work together to help administrators make sense of their network environment. Their value comes from how administrators use them to understand the equipment, connections, and conditions across their own networks.

Raising the Bar : FatPipe’s reliable and secure SD-WAN Solution for Banks

Banking and security. Two elements that perfectly complement each other

Banks are always at the cutting edge of the network and security, and they have the major responsibility to ensure financial data of consumers remains safe. A technology that does full justice to the sharp security as well as resilient network connectivity responsibility has always been the need of the hour. MPLS has been fulfilling the role of a reliable banking solution for years together, but the question of the day is” “What further value addition is possible in MPLS for improving secure network fabric? Which solution is the top alternative for it?”. To answer these questions, lets quickly go through the shortcomings of available solutions.

Drawbacks of existing WAN and SD-WAN Models for the Banking Sector

  • Recurring branch-level and ATM level outages had a negative consequence on branch uptime, directly impacting customer experience.
  • Taking advantage of the latest and improved Internet links as the available solutions have limitations for reliably and securely navigating the complexities of handling heterogeneous technologies for end user benefits.
  • Lack of True seamless failover where user sessions never disconnect, even on diverse media types
  • No centralised zero touch configuration and insightful AI-based analytical dashboards
  • As much as digital banking, mobile apps, and remote access are finding their place among end users, the rising connectivity costs of traditional WAN models exhaust IT budgets thanks to bandwidth demands.
  • While a single service provider for managing branches and data centers was the dream of several banks, that was nullified by the cumbersome processes of managed service providers, often leading to inconsistent performance and lag in troubleshooting.
  • With the cloud gaining momentum, legacy WAN models started to lag primarily due to their hub-and-spoke architecture.

Master Load Balancing through FatPipe’s Proven Techniques

FatPipe has been constantly raising the bar with its load balancing techniques for more than two decades; this unique combination of simplicity and intelligence across diverse network environments is a great solution for modern organizations.

FatPipe’s load balancing employs distinct techniques that can be applied across a wide range of scenarios:

  • MPSec™-Based intelligent Load Balancing for secure multipath performance utilising MPSec stability factor which switches traffic based on algorithm of various Network parameters. This load balancing technology can perform per packet load balancing without traffic duplication which is unique in the whole industry.
  • Round Robin for straightforward distribution, especially suitable for similar-speed internet connections
  • Response Time for choosing the fastest path. It is specifically suited for unequal speed connections. The link with the lowest latency will be used more often. Where two or more Internet links are used, Response Time is the wanted and preferred algorithm as it calculates real-time traffic and latencies.
  • Fastest Route for application-sensitive routing.  Each session will go over the fastest link for that particular destination.
  • Spillover Priority for handling surges efficiently. It is a solution for users that are charged for line usage that is proportionate to the traffic they generate during their billing cycle.
  • Weighted Distribution to allocate based on link capacity.  By implementing spill over priority, the network can effectively handle heavy loads on the primary link, ensuring that lower priority links are only engaged when absolutely necessary. This approach optimizes resource usage and reduces costs, complementing the traffic distribution of the weighted algorithm.
  • WAN Link Usage including Primary/Backup for prioritization and redundancy. When there are two or more links marked as ‘Backup’, sessions will be load balanced among them when all ‘Primary’ links are down.
  • Application load balancing – FatPipe creates outbound policies and can send traffic of application over available WAN links.
  • Threshold based – Network administrators can configure traffic failover to trigger based on latency, packet loss, jitter and/or bandwidth utilization.

FatPipe handles session-based load balancing in single-site setups and in multi-site configurations, it goes further by offering both session-based and packet-based load balancing, enabling enterprises to achieve maximum efficiency and reliability.

With FatPipe, sessions can be distributed across multiple paths using application data or details at Layer 3 and Layer 4. This flexibility is powered by MPSec™ ,that securely splits, encrypts, and reassembles data across WAN links. MPSec™ goes beyond the logical computations of an algorithm; it is a proven technique that bonds multiple connections into one logical, resilient, and secure pathway to provide consistent results, higher availability, better utilization of bandwidth, and uncompromised security.

FatPipe harnesses load balancing’s power by delivering seamless user experience besides managing operational costs with the guaranteed reliability.
